I’ve always been drawn to puzzles, and the tax code is one of the most intricate ones there is. What keeps me at it is the people on the other side of the numbers: the families who can do more, give more, and worry less when their money is organized around the right plan. That’s my purpose: using tax savings to create better financial outcomes for individuals, families, and future generations.
I came to this work through a career in tech. After earning my accounting degree from Golden Gate University, I spent 18 years and four start-ups as CEO or CFO, including founding Helio Solutions in 2001, the namesake for Helios Private Wealth. Building and exiting companies taught me how much of a person’s wealth can be won or lost on tax decisions, and how rarely anyone looks at the whole picture. So, I turned to helping business owners, executives, and retirees do exactly that.
Today I work with current and near retirees, business owners preparing for an exit, and individuals with concentrated stock positions. I hold the Series 66 licenses, and look for the tax strategies that keep more of what you’ve earned working for you and the people you care about.
A Bay Area native, I live in San Jose with my wife, Debbie. When I’m not working through a planning problem, you’ll find me walking our rescue pup, Layla.
